Webinar

Helsinki is home to, among other things, the national performing arts institutions Finnish National Theatre and Svenska Teatern - both cultural institutions belonging to our history, with walls for different parts of the population who speak different languages: Finnish and Swedish speakers. Both build our nation's identity not only with their content but also with their mere existence.

Cities change. In Helsinki, almost a quarter of the population will soon come from a cultural background other than Finnish or Finno-Swedish. Does the physical development of cities and the provision of cultural services and facilities take into account the new situation, where there are enormously more cultural backgrounds and the new contents that arise from them. Are equal identity-building spaces and meeting places needed for the development of new Finns and Helsinki residents' own cultural content and resident services?

Are digital / immersive contents enough? Are visits and pop ups enough? How is the identity of the new Finnish performing arts and the particle accelerator built? How is inclusiveness and the feeling that we are visible created? Above all: how do we find and grow an audience that doesn't feel familiar with traditional performance spaces?

Register here until Tuesday the 15th November and please spread the word with your organisation, too!
