The Board for Grants and Subsidies to Writers and Translators awards grants and subsidies to support the creative work of writers and translators. These grants and subsidies are awarded on condition that the resulting works can be loaned free of charge from public libraries. The amounts awarded are not based on the number of times the book in question is borrowed but are instead discretionary.
