Calls for applications for regional grants and artist grants open in March – familiarise yourself with the calls for applications and their changes in advance
Regional grants
The application period for regional grants is 3–27 March. Regional grants are intended for professional artists and art journalists, as well as working groups formed by them. The grant period for regional grants has changed: regional grants can be applied for to cover work and costs during the period 1 July 2025–31 December 2026.
Regional grants can be applied for to cover the work of an individual or members of a working group for a single uninterrupted period of 4, 5 or 6 months. In addition to work, the same application can be used to apply for a grant to cover other costs. If the use of the grant involves less than four months of work, the work does not have to performed within a single period.
The number of applications that can be submitted per applicant is restricted. The grant can be applied for with one application only, either as an individual or as the contact person for a working group. However, the applicant can also be a member of other working groups in addition to applying as an individual. Grants can be applied for from one region only. If the applicant submits more than one application, only the newest application will be processed.
Grant decisions are made by regional arts councils. All applicants will be notified of the decision by the end of June.
A total of 2.2 million euros has been allocated for regional grants, which is approximately 10 percent less than in 2024.
Artist grants
The application period for artist grants is 3 March – 3 April. Artist grants are intended to support the professional artistic work of artists and art journalists in different fields of the arts. The grants are awarded for a period of between six months and five years.
The grant period begins on 1 January 2026. Six-month grants may also begin on 1 July 2026 by notifying Taike before the start of the grant period.
No new Artist Professor grants will be awarded in 2025, as no Artist Professor grants are expiring at the end of 2025. The maximum number of Artist Professor grants at any one time is 22.
Grant decisions are made by national arts councils. All applicants will be notified of the decision by the end of September.
The number of artist grants will remain unchanged in 2026. A total of 270 new artist grant recipients will be decided on, and altogether 545 artists will work on an artist grant in 2026.
Apply on time
Both regional grants and artist grants can be applied for using Taike’s online services. Taike recommends submitting applications well in advance, as online services and customer service are typically congested during the last days of the application period.
Applicants can apply for both grants (artist grants and regional grants) during the call for applications. Please note that the grant period for regional grants begins in July 2025, while the grant period for artist grants begins in January 2026. There are also differences in the intended purpose of the grants, as artist grants are awarded only for artistic work, while regional grants can be awarded for both work and other costs.
