Fifth COVID-19 support package for the arts and culture still under preparation
We shall communicate the contents and schedule of the new call for applications as soon as possible. At the moment, it appears that the call for applications could be announced in the second half of June.
The support package will pay particular attention to the diversity of the sector and the different forms of employment, such as gig workers, self-employed workers, sole proprietors, freelancers and private traders.
The Government has submitted a proposal for the support package to Parliament on 29 April. According to the proposal, EUR 127.36 million of the second supplementary budget will be allocated to culture and the arts. Approximately half of this amount, EUR 64.8 million, will be allocated through Taike to professionals in the field in the form of grants and to private traders and sole proprietors in the form of subsidies.
The Parliamentary proceedings can be followed online here: HE 68/2021 vp.
Taike is currently processing applications from the fourth call for applications for COVID-19 support. Approximately 15 million euros in support is being distributed during the fourth round. Almost 9000 applications were received, and the decisions will be made by mid-June.
During the third round of COVID-19 support in 2020, a total of 17.5 million euros was distributed: 11,817 applications were received, and 5200 grants were awarded.
