Subsidies for festivals and cultural journals available from Taike – application period for regional communities has been brought forward
Operational subsidies and special subsidies for communities in 2018 can be applied for from 29 September to 2 November 2017. The calls for applications have been published on the Taike website, www.taike.fi. Communities should make sure in advance that they have a valid Katso ID to log in to our online services.
Last year Taike received over 1800 applications from communities.
Application period for regional communities has been brought forward to the autumn
Communities throughout Finland should apply for subsidies in the autumn, as there will not be a separate call for applications in the spring.
Communities may apply for special subsidies for organising exhibitions, seminars and courses, for example. Taike does not award subsidies amounting to less than 2000 euros. These subsidies are intended for projects to be implemented in 2018, and they must be used during the year in which they are awarded or the following year at the latest.
Festival subsidies have transferred from the Ministry of Education and Culture to Taike
For the first time, Taike will be awarding subsidies for festivals and cultural journals. The Ministry of Education and Culture, which previously awarded these subsidies, will continue to support only major festivals. Taike will award approximately two million euros to festivals and almost 900,000 euros for cultural journals.
In addition, Taike also awards artist-in-residence subsidies, subsidies for promoting cultural diversity and combating racism, and cultural wellbeing subsidies, for example. Altogether, ten different forms of subsidies are available.
Obtain Katso ID in advance
The Katso ID is available free of charge from the Population Register Centre (https://yritys.tunnistus.fi). To obtain the Katso ID you will need a valid Business ID. Information for obtaining a Business ID for your community is available on from the Business Information System website (http://www.ytj.fi).
All Taike subsidies can be applied for electronically with our easy-to-use online services. Applications that have already been submitted can also be supplemented online. Applications should be submitted electronically before the end of the application period. Online applications will be accepted until 4pm on 2 November.
Applications should include a copy of your community’s audited financial statements for the previous financial period. If you are applying for an operational subsidy, a copy of your community’s operating plan and budget for the forthcoming year will also be required.
Application period for project grants begins in September
The application period for project grants intended for projects to be implemented in 2018 begins at the end of September. Artists and groups formed by them may also apply for grants for promoting cultural diversity, as well as grants for mobility. The application period for these grants continues until 15 November. Artists and the contact persons for artist groups can log in to our online services using their personal bank identifiers.
