Children and young people make street art on 1st of December all over Finland

The 4th annual Arts Promotion Day will feature multifaceted and multidimensional street art. Over a dozen events throughout Finland will highlight youth culture and allow children and young people to be heard. Arts Promotion Day will also mark the culmination of the #taideonlasten theme year, during which the Arts Promotion Centre Finland has been promoting children’s and youth culture, as well as the status of artists who work in this field.

The street art happenings have been planned by artists working together with children and young people throughout the autumn. This cooperation has involved numerous workshops and art activities. On Arts Promotion Day participants will be able to experience street dance, experiment with street art and enliven their everyday environments through various performances and artworks. Some of the events will be open to people of all ages, while others are intended for specific target groups.

The 1st of December was proclaimed Arts Promotion Day by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland for the first time in 2013 with the aim of stimulating debate over the right of people of all ages to art. The theme in 2015 was Taide on lähellä and featured light art. This year the focus will be on children and young people in keeping with the theme of #taideonlasten.

Welcome to experience the world through the eyes of children and young people on 1 December 2016!
