Awarded grants and subsidies

The first round of COVID-19 grants awarded by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) attracted 3733 applications, from which 533 applicants were awarded a grant of 3000 euros.

The national arts councils have awarded state prizes in the fields of architecture, cinema, the performing arts, literature, the visual arts, children’s culture, media art, multidisciplinary art, design, music and photographic art. The value of the State Prize for Children’s Culture is 30,000 euros and the State Prize for Multidisciplinary Art 28,000 euros. The value of each of the other state prizes is 14,000 euros. The prizes were awarded by Hanna Kosonen, Minister of Science Culture, at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki on 29 November.

The prizes were awarded by Sampo Terho, Minister for European Affairs, Culture and Sport, at the Taike Gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of the arts councils that was held in Helsinki on 27 November.

The arts councils of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) have awarded 304 artist grants. Most of these grants were allocated to professional artists in the fields of the visual arts, literature, music and theatre.

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and the National Council for Mobility and Diversity in the Arts have awarded 765,000 euros in grants and subsidies this year for promoting cultural diversity and combating racism.

The Central Arts Council was awarded a 30,000-euro subsidy to RASMUS ry, which promotes “good speech” in social media and public spaces.

Taiteen edistämiskeskus jakoi kärkihankeavustukset kolmatta kertaa. Pohjois-Savon Sairaanhoitopiirin Kuntayhtymä sai 180 000 euroa kuuden maakunnan kulttuurihyvinvointisuunnitelman laatimiseen. Loput kolme toimijaa saivat kukin 40 000 euroa.

Taiteen moninaisuuden ja liikkuvuuden toimikunta on jakanut liikkuvuusapurahoja yli 100 000 euroa. Apurahan sai 73 taiteilijaa tai työryhmää. Hakijoita oli 307.

Experimental composer Shinji Kanki (born 1953) has had a long, versatile and multidisciplinary career in auditory art. He has lived and worked in Finland since 1985, and his diverse activities have ranged from experimental music and other auditory art to experimental radio broadcasting.

Illustrator Matti Pikkujämsä (born 1976) has produced illustrations for newspapers, magazines and books. He has also designed textiles for Marimekko, Samuji and Lapuan Kankurit.
